Provided here are Microsoft Excel spreadsheets listing Purser events, primarily births and christenings, from English records. If you have the name and approximate birth date of an immigrant Purser ancestor, these sheets might point you to locations in England to continue your search.
This map illustrates where Pursers were concentrated in 16th and 17th century England.
The next attachment is an illustration of the only authentic Purser coat of arms that I have been able to find. The description is: Gules, three clawed wright's hammers argent. Crest- A fox's head erased, or. The rendering is by Martin Goldstraw of Whitecairns, UK (Scotland). One should remember that the arms belong to the person who was granted them and can not be used by others even though their name may be Purser. However, I thought the arms would be of interest.
